2016 Lexus LS 600h L – Review and Test Drive – The Diesel Driver – The Joy of Diesel Driving
The hybrid LS 600 h comes equipped with a large, 5.0-liter gasoline engine that develops 438 horsepower, two electric motors, and a continuously-variable transmission. While the hybrid has more power, it feels somewhat slower than the petrol-powered version, presumably due to its additional weight. Nonetheless, it delivers more than enough power to move five passengers in comfort from zero to 60 mph (96 km/h) in 5.5 seconds.
The Lexus Enform App Suite has been greatly improved and provides easy access to your favorite music sources including Pandora and iHeartRadio as well as today’s mission critical apps such as OpenTable and Facebook.
BOTTOM LINE
While the hybrid gets a respectable 19 mpg (12.4 l/100 km) in the city and 23 mpg (10.2 l/100 km) on the open road, it does cost significantly more than a similarly equipped gasoline-powered version. Still, if you want hybrid power in unparalleled surroundings, this may be the way to go.
