Review and Test Drive: 2019 Infiniti QX80 Limited – The Green Car Driver –

Not surprisingly, also like Buicks of old, the Infiniti QX80 is a fuel guzzler, and we saw 17.5 mpg (13.4 l/100 km) after a week’s visit with a combination of urban and highway driving.

All QX80s come standard with multiple drive-assistance technologies including forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection and automated emergency braking, and we found these worked well although we had trouble getting pedestrians to volunteer for testing.

The 8” touchscreen infotainment system – InTouch – is simple to use but lags behind the competition. It doesn’t support Apple CarPlay although we surmise the next QX80 will. Those in need of USB ports to charge various devices will find four USB ports; the optional Theater package adds a fifth USB port and a 120-volt electrical outlet as well as a rear-seat entertainment system with dual displays.

BOTTOM LINE

The QX80 is massive but carries its weight well, and it makes a rather impressive entrance. In introducing the QX80 Limited and the smaller QX60, the automaker said it would be “the most refined and luxurious expressions of the QX60 and QX80 yet,” and, by George, they are right!
